On Friday March 6th Columbia College will screen “Darfur Now” and hold a panel discussion to follow, in preparation for the Youth Darfur Rally.  I’ll get you the exact time/ location as soon as I know.

Want to put your DESIGN skills to good use?  Create a poster/flyer for the Youth Darfur Rally (taking place April 19th in Fed Plaza)!  You can see current flyer designs (with the relevant info of time/ location, etc.) in the “photos” section of the Youth Darfur Rally Student Reps Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/photo_search.php?oid=49268190167&view=all

Please email me your designs!

What would you like us to do here at SAIC in preparation for the April 19th Youth Darfur Rally?  The rally is in part intended to raise awareness of the ongoing crisis in Darfur, and in part to raise money to provide educational resources to Sudanese refugees here in Chicago and in the camps in Chad. (Our group’s fundraising page will be online shortly.)

-We could host Film Screenings (The Devil Came on Horseback, Darfur Now, etc.) at SAIC and invite speakers from the Sudanese Community Center.  What do you think would be the best time of the week?  An evening Mon-Thurs?  A Friday evening?  I’ve been in touch with the Sudanese Community Center, and they would welcome our group’s collaboration in their work, and in organizing educational programs for the SAIC community if we are interested.  What do you think?

-We could design informational posters to educate the SAIC community about the crisis in Darfur.  Let me know if you’re interested in designing an informational poster, or just send me your designs!

-We could set up informational tables in SAIC lobbies, handing our informational flyers, asking for donations, selling “Save Darfur T-Shirts” etc.     (Do you think it would be a good idea to sell Save Darfur T-Shirts here at SAIC?  Let me know and I can put in an order.)

There's lots we can do to make SAIC an active participant in Chicago's Save Darfur efforts,  but it requires YOUR active participation to make this happen!
